The small print, without the games
Privacy Policy
We collect as little as we can get away with, we do not sell it, and you can ask us to delete it whenever you like.
What we collect
Only what we need to do the job:
- Your name, email, delivery address and phone number when you place an order
- Your email address if you join our mailing list
- Whatever you choose to write in a contact or hospitality enquiry
- Basic, aggregated traffic statistics — which pages get visited, on what kind of device
What we do with it
We use your details to get your order to you, to answer your questions, and — only if you asked for it — to email you about launches and new flavours. That is the whole list.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to anyone.
Who else touches it
A few service providers help us operate, and they only ever see what they need to: our payment gateway, Payfast, takes your payment and handles your card details on its own secure page; Bob Go, who we book couriers through, gets your name, contact details and delivery address so your parcel can be collected and delivered; our email provider sends the emails; and our hosting provider runs the site, the order database and the form submissions. Your card number is entered on Payfast's page, never on ours — we never see it and never store it.
Cookies
Your bag and your delivery details are kept in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers, so they survive a trip to the payment gateway and back. You can clear them at any time by clearing site data. Beyond that the site uses only anonymous analytics so we can tell which pages are useful. No advertising trackers.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for five years because tax law says so. Mailing-list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept for two years, then deleted.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or tell us to stop emailing you. Email hello@alsoo.co.za and we will act on it within 30 days. Every marketing email has a working unsubscribe link, and using it takes effect immediately.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page, and if the change is significant we will say so by email.
